Hit a little rain driving this morning and turned the wipers on. Nothing happened and all I hear is a tick tick tick from the relay. I pulled over to investigate and realized they are stuck under the hood. I opened the hood, turned them on then shut the hood. They work perfectly until I want to turn them off... they hit the hood going back to the resting position. To make the fully go down I have to open the hood again.
I had the same problem about 2 years ago when I replaced my wipers with stock GM wipers. The problem was the new wipers were to tall and they hit my hood too. I finally had to get some low profile wipers (real low). When I finally found some that worked and whenever I had to change my wipers, I only replaced the rubber wipers portions and kept the frame.
Trico Exact-Fit wipers work for me. I put some super-duper triple blade wiper on and ran into the same problem... so I just stick with the Tricos on the 78.
