What would be more a more appropriate spark plug wire set for for a late 69, (November) Q1 69 or Q3 69 which is listed for a 1970 ?
All replies appreciated Thanks.
If the trim tag on your Corvette indicates a build in November of 1969, 3rd Qtr 69 plug wires would work perfectly as far as dates are concerned. If you intend to have the car judged there are other considerations, none of which amount to much.
The reproduction braided wires have braiding that is easily distinguished from original. The reason is, the braiding is very tightly wound, unlike the originals that were much more loosely wound. Also, the reproduction wires have shorter boots on the spark plug end which measure approx 2" as opposed to originals that are closer to 2.5"
All of that malarkey is not to say the reproductions are not nice because they are and I appreciate the fact someone produces them. In NCRS and/or Bloomington type judging, reproductions will most likely receive a minor deduction which is no big deal.
