Heat riser disconnected - stuck open or closed?
Ok, my heat riser valve is disconnected, at least I think it is. Can you tell me if it is in the open or closed position?
How do I tell if it is open or closed? Do I need to start the car and let it warm up? I don't think there is a vacuum line attached to it.
I don't need it, I just don't want it stuck in the 'closed' position restricting exhaust flow.

Put vacuum to that hard steel line coming off of it and see if the linkage works.
I beleive the vac switch puts vac to it immediately, and pulls it closed; when the switch warms up it releases, and the spring holds the riser valve open. I just removed mine when I did my Corvette Central Magnaflow dual system, and it was held OPEN with no vac to the actuator.
