Dewitts Radiator Question
I swear I read on here somewhere that you don't have to have an overflow tank but I can't seem to find the post. I thought Tom commented that if you leave a little room in the top of the rad then it wasn't needed. Is this true?

some year models don't have an overflow from the factory. My 72 350 with 4 spd and AC does not have one, it only has a "puke" tube pointing down to the floor. I love my DeWitts, big improvement!

Factory aluminium radiators used surge tanks since they have no fill cap. Factory copper/brass radiators have a fill cap and usually did not use surge tanks. All later models with copper/brass have fill caps and used coolant recovery tanks.

Your radiator works better with the coolant recovery tank. The tank helps purge the air out of your cooling system which will give you better coolant flow. You will notice all newer cars have coolant recovery tanks. That's because they work.
