Oil Temp. Sensor install??
I am installing an oil temperature gauge in my new gauge cluster. Where should I install the sensor?? I noticed a plug in the side of the block near the clutch housing...does this lead to an oil galley?? Or is there one near the filter to tap into?? I hope this can be done easily...any suggestions??? :confused:

above the oil filter is normally where the oil pressure sensor is on engines not equipped with oil temp gauge from factory. Oil pressure sensor on an '81 with oil temp gauge, is located on top of block at rear of the intake manifold / lifter valley area. Guess you can install either in either location, but just wanted you to know / understand where these were located from factory.

This is the one near the oil filter, usually occupied by the pressure sensor as shown. As noted, the stock 1981 set-up places the temp sensor here and the pressure sensor is re-located to the blind plumbing plug on the block near the distributor.
