ok, you may have seen my other thread about my left headlight blowing.
over the weekend i went to reinstall my radio that was sent off for repair, unfortunately it still had problems.
but while i was putting everything back together, i got a nasty electric shock as i was plugging on the wiper switch plug as i was holding onto the bezel.
i didnt realize i had left the ignition switched to the 'on' position.
was definitely a coil type zap.
any idea where that may have come from?
do i have a major problem, maybe this is linked to my other electrical condition causing voltage spikes?
i'm just thinking out loud as everyone on this side of the world is asleep
Before the short is addressed I wanted to hand down a valuable piece of advice that is taught as a fundamental when working on an automobile's electrical system. Always, always, disconnect the battery before unhooking or reconnecting anything electrical. When you got shocked did any fuses blow or are any fuses blown currently?

A "coil type zap"? 12 volts won't give you much (if any) of a shock. if you really got a high voltage zap with the ignition switch on, look for shorts or arcing from a coil wire that might be making contact with one of the wiper motor wires.
If the switch is on when he plugged it up, and the key is on....it will zap you... Trust me, been zapped a plenty... I'm not sure this is what happened, just speculation.

if just before you let go of the wiper switch you noticed your eyeballs moving left and right in a rapid motion its safe to say you were acting as a ground.
