My seats do not go anywhere to lining up. how do I fix this? It looks like I need to move the entire seat back, back a few inches in order to get it lined up right.
I had the exact same problem. I ended up taking a long straight screw driver and bending the tab until I could get the stops to line up correctly. My seat bottom also need some tweaking as well. In my picture below you can see the "tabs" where the holes are for the stops. One of them is further out than the other. I did not take an after pic however.
It can be "tweaked" without fear of damage. Both back and bottom on mine did. They turned out good....
Yours does look like it is bulged a bit just above the stop....Might have to take a hammer and try to flatten it as you slightly bend it in the direction for the stops to align...
you've got the wrong stops in the seat backs. the stop for the backs are much shorter then the bottom stops. i think that once you change them, everything will line up ok.
they did all come out of the same seat and same car as far as I know, obviosly bieng only 30 years old I am not the original owner so I can not verify lol I will just order all new bolts and see how thaqt goes. Thanks everyone and if there are any more tips don't hesitate to add as this may not work.

Check your AIM or look in the suppliers catalogues, you will see the different stops for top and bottom.
Dads car was out too. We bent the seat backs so the stops aligned fairly well and they immediately bent again when he drove it. So, we stripped the seats, lined them up again and welded some little metal support wedges onto the seat backs to hold the ears in place. They've been good since.
When I fixed mine, I cut off the nut and welded in a threaded sleeve and added gussets so they resist being torqued. I added a 1/8 inch steel plate to the surface area of the base. Adjusted them for proper alignment.
The reenforcement plate is available from the vendors. I cut mine out of some hardened stuff I had around here.
