my wipers have decided to come on even when the switch is in the off position. i know they can be unplugged at the motor, but am wondering if this is a quick fix or a faulty switch or what? if i press the switch down and to the right, the wipers will stay off, but when i release the pressure on the switch, they come back on.
also, my four way flashers (hazards) don't work. the flasher works and i can hear it tick-tick-ticking, but the lights don't blink. i think the turn signals on the dash are supposed to blink as well which they aren't doing. thanks again as always :seeya
Re: problems with wipers and hazard lights (SizzleChest)
Sounds like you have a short to ground in your wiper switch. Might be time for a new one. I believe that there was a separate flasher unit for the hazzard lights in 1978. I know my 71 has a separate one. Check your fuse panel, you should see one plugged into the fuse panel. Also check behind the passenger side front dash panel. There is one there that clips to the panel. I am not sure which one is which, but all you have to do is turn on your blinkers and listen to which one clicks, then change out the other one. The flasher one has a higher current rating because it flashes all the lights together so I suggest not swapping them for troubleshooting.......you may end up buying two new ones.
