Do a search on the subject. I just did it on my '69 BB, non-air, and it is not a whole lot of fun. You will have to go from the inside under the dash. Easiest to take out passenger side dash panel, maybe top dash panel and center instrument panel. While you are in there, you may as well check everything else out from gauges, dash lights, etc. Some just block off the heater hoses under the hood and forget about the whole thing.
My H/C was disconnected by a previous owner. I do not know if my core went bad or was fightin with the A/C.
I went for a ride on a brisk 30ish degree day and was not cold.
I guess that 427 doubles as a wood stove in the winter
You should have it pressure tested as if it is bad at the outlet
a radiator shop maybe able to braze it in place.
If it is leaking internally than I guess it's repair or replace.
It looks like a big job allot of takin stuff off.
Best of luck in your decision

just replaced mine last weekend in the 75. It really wasnt all that bad. You have to make time to do it and take your time doing it. Start by taking taking the passenger seat out, this a must. remove the center consol and pb cover. about 6 screws and the pass side dash pad comes off. remove the gauge assem, kick panel, vac diafram, duct work, heater vent control cable a couple vac lines. and there it is..the freakin core housing. 4 bolts hold it on the inside and 1 nut on the fire wall. disconect the hoses from underneath the car, and pull the housing up and out . the core is fixed inside the housing. take it all apart clean everything up. put new foam on the mating areas and put everything back together. Be carefull with the housing, its made from some kind of plastic and fiber and will crack.
I'm taking this project this a couple steps further and putting in new carpet (antifreeze ruined the old stuff) heat sheild(reflextix @ lowes) new seats, seat belts, all new bulbs in the dash and any thing else that needs attention while I'm in there. clean as you go and keep it organized. So far I have about 10 hours into this. I will received the new carpet this Thursday and hope to have it all back together this Sunday
