Default Flares, tires and wheels.

I am thinking ahead of time what i can use to accomplish this? I love the look of a vette with 15x10 deep dish wheels flares and a set of N-50/15 Protracs. I see Mickey Thompson and Hoosier have big assed radials in 15" . When you add a flare to the front and rear, obviously the back space is going to change. Has somebody done this? I want the old school muscle car look, what size wheels and tires work with this idea? I am trying to stay away from 17-18 inch wheels, would like to do it in 15's

Would a 15x10 wheel look out of place on the rear, or do you step up to a 15x12? fronts would be a 15x9.5 i am thinking?

Found a set of Centerline 15x12 wheels brand new with 3-5/16 BS Is that enough BS to fit with the L-88 Flare.

Hoosier has 2 tires, 29x15 x15 tire 29" tall, with 13" tread and a 15.2 section width.
Mickey has the same tire. Mickey also has a 28x12.5x15. 28" tall 12" section and 10.4" tread. They mounted it on a 10" wheel though.

Even with flares you get into problems with tires taller than 27 inches. You have to start using stiff rear springs and lifting the rear up to keep the tires from touching.

Ok thank you. so thats why the N-50 15 worked then, and not much bigger. The 255/60/15 i have on now is 27" tall and nothing rubs anywhere.

Thanks for the links Grumpy, I like the Flares a lot to. I have 255/60/15 on my 71 LS5 and they dont rub on the rear. They do rub on the front. Keep us posted if you get the flares.

I'm a big fan of the L88 flares also. Let us know if you get a set and send some pics of the process!

My car is in line to get flares from Custom Image and I can't wait. Here is a link to Jeff's car, which is up there now and will be awesome when it's finished.

I have flairs on the 63. Use Cragar SS 12x15 rear W BFG 295 50 15 and cragar SS 8x15 with 215 60 15 front. Needed 1/4" spacers to get the spokes to clear but they go under my flairs, clear the calipers and tire height is 27" rear, 24" front. I like the bigger rear tire - old school look. You can go with 255 60 15 for a 27" front if you want them balanced front to back.

Great what backspace are you running, and are you running the L-88 flares? How do they fit, do you have any pictures.

Click on my cvorvette photos. The same size wheels with the same 4 1/4" backspacing. The centerlines pictured are onlt 10" in the rear. The cragars are 2" wider and fit under the flair lips. No new photos yet.
