The latch assembly LH on my '78 had been getting less responsive. I took it apart and have it on the bench now. Are these worth grinding the rivets off and attempting to repair? Can they even be repaired? I found new ones at fullthrottlecorvette for $99.00. Anyone have a comment? Thanks in advance,Terry1218

The expensive ones from the vendors are good replacements for originals but avoid the cheap Ebay units with no ties to a quality manufacturer or reputable vendor. As far as your unit they are worth cleaning and testing to see if maybe it was just gummed up and maybe it'll work properly when tested. You can bench test them. Use a rod about the same diameter as the striker bolt to latch it and then actuate the lock and unlock and unlatch mechanisms and mark where your tolerances are. Properly set up linkages will also get you better results usually then when it was taken out since things do tend to loosen up a bit over the years.
