I have been working on my door locks and windows recently to get everything working again. I have been unable to lock the doors since I bought my car and finally tore it all out, cleaned and lubed everything, fixed the broken stuff, and put it all back together. Now i can finally lock the doors with the key and the **** inside. But I've discovered that the alarm goes off when I lock the door. Not constantly, but it will start buzzing on its own after being locked for some time. I know there is a trick to set the lock for the alarm, but I haven't figured it out. Otherwise, the locks work great. Ideas?
factory, or aftermarket ?
if your alarm is configured for current sense (Most are set up this way)
the locking solinoids may be setting the system off.
It is the factory alarm. I'm not at all familiar with the alarm system. Simply disabling it is tempting but I would rather have it working just because it is there. Can the door be locked with the key without enabling the alarm? I could look in the manual if I wasn't so lazy sometimes... I'd really like to fix it.
Yeah, just turn the fender switch with the round key, and your alarm will disarm. Mine works great, but doesn't have anything to do with the door locks, just the door opening and triggering the alarm when it's armed.
The alarm switch was integrated with the door lock in '80 instead of a separate switch on the fender. Hence my predicament. Suggestions and solutions appreciated. Keep them coming.
I wish the AIM would help with this. Everything appears to be in place as it should be. There is just something amiss with the functionality of it. Thanks anyway.
