Default '82 gas pedal problem

on several occasions this month I have been sitting in traffic with my foot off of the gas pedal when suddenly the 'vette has lurched forward. If I had been closer to the car in front of me I would have smashed in to it.I now keep my foot on the brake when stopped. Is there anyone else out there who has had this problem ?if so ,what did you do to resolve it ?I am thanking those of you who answer in advance.

That is a symtom of a bad throttle position sensor. Most of the time it will turn the "Check engine " light on but not always.

What silvervetteman said. Check your throttle position sensor. It told your ECM the wrong info. Located on the side of the drivers side throttle body. Some instructions on how to check its calibration located at: http://www.homeip.crossfire.com

Hope I got the link right!
