Pilot Bearing Problem
Help - I purchased a new engine. It has a 427 crank shaft. My mechanic is in the process of installing the engine and the standard chevy pilot bearing doesn't fit. The hole is too small. He checked with Chevy and they have only two bearings listed, the standard he has, and a roller bearing, which still will have the same OD.
I haven't heard back from the engine mfg. yet, but was wondering what the problem may be? How to fix the problem? Any other comments?

There is only one size for all chevy pilot bushings.

I've heard from other forum members that the crankshaft used for Automatic tranny vettes does not have the hole machined for a pilot bearing. You option I suppose is to drill the hole the right size, and it should be done by a machine shop to get it in there straight. The other option is to get another crank.
