Good. It is probably just a cooked wire/boot. It does not take long to get the header glowing orange right where it attaches to the head with retarted timing. It is thin material and the exhaust valve is open during plug firing even if timing is just a little retarted. A couple miles will do it. Spark takes the path of least resistance. The plug is a resistor with a gap. Arc from the boot to the header is the path of least resistance.
Even if few miles, I think it's better to check what you are saying about the headers... could you point me where to look at? I'm learning so sorry about the stupid question! Thank you!
I would change the #8 plug wire and boot and see how it runs now that your timing is correct.
I've changed all the wires with the Pertronix ones but no difference for #8 piston... I've checked vacuum, always 20 (rock solid)... checked also timing again and I've seen not fixed readings when I use the advance dial (I suppose it is related to the different wiring insulation, I haven't touched the distributor). So what's next?
the other cyls are getting fuel so your # 8 is too
Check your valves to see that they arent hanging open.
Adjust them too tight? Other issue? Rockers go all the way up and down like the others? Fire it up momentarily without the valve cover on and see what its doing.
If the valves are hanging open youll have a dead cyl
Small update here.
I've checked compression, THERE IS compression on cyl #8 so there should be no problems with valves. I've noticed that changing A/F on that side helps (plugs are very white so maybe its too lean). But why only cyl #8 not working?
