Default AN Fuel Line

I am getting ready to replace the carb on my 73 small block. Does anyone know how long of a piece of AN -6 fuel line I need from the fuel pump to the carb?

The fuel inlet on the new carb is very close to where the original q-jet inlet is.

Thanks,
Budshark

I can measure tonight, but just a rough guess would be 24-30"...

I agree, buy 3' and you will have more than enough.

Thanks, I was thinking 3 feet as well. Car is not nearby or I would have measured myself.

If the original metal fuel line is really close as you say to where you need it why replace it with AN-type hose? Modern alco-gas eats these lines from the inside out (ask me how I know this) and can be a real fire hazard in the engine compartment of a Corvette. There's a reason GM used steel lines from pump to carb...

I use a 3/8 steel line and bend as needed, then flare it for -6AN fittings. I'm no fan of the braided lines under the hood- especially on the carb side of the fuel pump

I just pulled all my AN lines and fittings and I'm going stainless hardline as well, mixed in with some teflon lines and fittings. Vapors coming thru rubber were awfull.

dembo, your lines look good and clean. Is it all hard line to the frame?

Default Fragola Hose

Used Fragola 8000 push-on hose and AN6 fittings from the pump to carb.
Fairly ez to work with,no fuel smell.I only use ethanol free fuel.....[IMG][/IMG]

Thanks! It does require patience and a few extra feet of tubing for practice. I used the rigid flaring tool, the cheap summit bending tool, summit nut and collars, 2 swadgelok couplings and a coat hanger.
From frame line supply and return go to the pump with the standard pre formed rubber hoses. From the pump to the carb are two hardlines (you see them both in the pic) as I couldn't snake in a single piece line with the serpentine brackets. The link Scott posted helped me alot.
I still need to fab a bracket to hold it to the compressor to eliminate all vibration

Yes Sir; A good rule of Thumb to use on rubber gas lines. No longer than Six inches (6"). Have a great day. My 1982 has rubber at the tank, & at the in line filter at the frame. Gene
