I'm looking at replacing the radiator in my 80 Vette. I've been looking at options other than the heavy brass factory unit. From what I understand, a third gen Camaro radiator will drop right in. This would be an aluminum style with plastic tanks. Any one know what modifications, hose differences, or other issues using this setup?
I have already switched to an electric fan. I'm using the fan and shroud from a 98 Crown Vic PI. Flipped upside down and trimmed to fit.
if you need a radiator for a Corvette than for a TRUE drop in replacement AND a 30% increase in cooling capacity go with a DeWitts aluminum radiator.
They are not the least expensive out there but the product quality and customer service is second to nine, PERIOD.
DeWitts is simply the best out there and no other vendor even comes in a close second place.
Do you need a radiator? Have your original tanked/recored. It will fit and it's not as heavy as you think. Run the L-82 shroud and auxiliary fan. No trimming or upsidedown required. AIM shows the installation and lists the part numbers.
