hi? i have a long tube headers plus dynomax super turbo mufflers ready to go in. i want to do true dual 2.5" pipe all the way front to rear but i want to know how loud will this car be and how much HP will i gain. i have a 82 corvette with 400 small block (stock, not built)
or secondly, just go with the new headers, mufflers, remove the cat and leave all other pipes the same. is there any hp gain with my second option?

i like a nicely sound exhaust but i don't like something too loud with drone.

you may see a small hp gain in around town seat of the pants feel but its at wide open throttle that an opened up exhaust kicks in. a cross over pipe in front of the mufflers will help with some of the drone, but making sure you mount everything with rubber will also. If all you are looking for is a better sound , you might try it with your 2nd option 1st, and if you want it louder then go with the bigger pipe. you can remove the cat try the sound with the exhaust hanging loose and then just add or leave pieces off as you decide what you like. hope this helps

Do you have emissions testing in your state? It would be a shame to spend the money on true duals only to learn you have to run a cat.

I have Dynomax super turbo mufflers on a 2 1/2 inch system on my 68 427/390. Stock exhaust manifolds, (obviously no cats ). It's a nice free flowing exhaust that sounds muscular. Absolutely no drone and it isn't crazy loud but you know it's there. I think you'll like it

I had block hugger headers, true duals and turbo mufflers. When I installed the Pypes with crossover and Race Pro mufflers the cab became considerably quieter, unless of course you push the pedal. The exhaust sound is a bot more modern than the true dual but sooo quiet at steady speeds.
