Was wondering, can you remove the upper and lower control arms with out removing the radiator or shrowd? Rebuilding the front end and don't want to remove the radiator or shrowd.
Depending on the year and, maybe, the phase of the moon, probably. For the upper arms, the trick is to carefully tap out the forward bolts that hold the upper A arms to the frame. They are pressed into the frame like wheel studs, with a knurled shank. Sometimes, a slide hammer with a hook type attachment can be used from the wheel well side to accomplish that. Like many operations on these beasts that we love, it can be a PITA.
I just pulled them off my 78 without the radiator being removed. Had to shove the shrowd around a bit. I had removed the fan blade first. Laid the A/C comp. up on the engine.

On My 78 the upper mounting studs are still inplace. So I guess there is a year differance. The front stud took a little force to get off over the bolt, but it made it.
I'll hit the trifecta on this.. but I'll add.. placing a nut on the stud and lightly tapping will push it out. In most cases you won't hurt the stud. But be careful. I have the luxury of having studs in stock if I screw one up... you won't.
You never have to remove the radiator or shroud to do this job...
