In the process of changing the trans. cooling lines. (454 th400 72)
The new steel lines are 5/16" dia puffed up about an inch or so before the swagged lip to .340" dia
Everything I can find says they are 5/16"
5/16? line slips over nice and tight, looks good.
The two fittings that are on the rad appear to be proper (swagged lip etc) but both are measuring at .370, just a hair under 3/8" The hose will probably go, but won't be happy about it.
Was there different sizes for the lines, Bubba been in here so maybe it has later or earlier fittings installed or ???
Ideas?

you can adapt that, some of the car mfg's even use adapters when they change suppliers, any plumbing supply or even napa ,if you force that in , it will never seal
Mooser, that is correct. The lines are 5/16 but flare out for 3/8 hose. Done that way at the factory. The replacement lines aren't flared as much as the original ones.
Mike
Went and got some 11/32 trans hose, that seems to fit both the old and new lines fairly decently. I think I'll go ahead and use the fuel-injection clamps just to make sure.
Thanks guys
