Be a bit more patient. It's a nice Spring day. There are a lot of car shows today all over the country and I'm sure many members are either out driving or out working on their Vette. I'm sure you'll see some answers pop in tonight.

Gm sells the correct flywheel. How did you get the ZZ-4 engine? I have a 68 with 327 and made the mistake ( I think ) of getting the smaller 10 1/2" correct one piece rear seal 153 tooth flywheel to keep the 68 only starter. I have had trouble with my clutch and original bell housing and clutch fork ball stud. You need the correct 11" 168 tooth(?) flywheel and I am assuming you already have the correct 11" bell housing and starter. Lou.

tks, Lou..that matches the info i have gathered so far..i do need the 11 inch clutch and i do have the right starter, someone just IM'd me the part number (GM 10105832) calls for 14" 168 tooth..i would like to find an aftermarket crossover flywheel and maybe get some info on a complete Hayes clutch...did not consider the fork ball stud..i guess i will get it all, clutch, fork and ball stud along with the flywheel, bell housing should fit, but i will check.
i found the ZZ4 engine on Craigs' list, about 2000 mile for $1500.00..a friend has an engine trailer so we are going to hook it up and see how it runs.

ok, now i am getting confused again (not hard to do) i finally found all the specs on my ZZ4 and ZZ71S is using a Flywheel #14088650 which is a 12 3/4 inch and 153 tooth with a 10.4 clutch and has had no problems running or fitting this setup to his ZZ4 and stock bell housing (my 74 has a staggered starter and if memory serves me, this indicates a 168 tooth)...if i use the Flywheel #10105832 which is a 14 inch and 168 tooth, will this fit under my stock bellhousing and do i still use a 10.4 clutch or can i go to an 11 inch clutch? ..... AND thanks for all your help, guys, it is appreciated..

Stick with the number I gave you. That is what I put in my 71. I ran an 11 inch clutch with that. The 621 bellhousing your car has will work with both flywheel sizes. The higher horsepower cars and big blocks used a 14 inch flywheel with the 11 inch clutch.

I used the same starter that was on my original 350. My ZZ4 block was drilled for both starter types.

Off topic but I need to know... What spark plugs are you using?

I have ZZ4 heads on my 75 block.
Parts guys around here say they don't have that information.

Thanks

Thanks

I have never had a problem using the recommended plugs in anything.
But I have wasted time and money using other brands that crossed over on some body's chart.

Thanks again
