Default Gen III LS6 PCV Conversion(Long)

Guys, I'm doing a small and simple write up of the LS6 PCV conversion. This is overall a very simple conversion that can be done in about 1-2 hours. I did this conversion on my 2000 Camaro and figured I'd do this write up since a lot of people here have done LSX swaps on their C3s.

Sources:
-LS1tech.com
ls1howto.com

Tools Needed:
-Needle Nose Pliers
-22mm Socket, 3in. extension, wrench
-10mm and 13mm socket
-Grinder with cut off wheel
-Lots of Rags
-Goggles

Part Numbers
- 04+ LS6 Valley Cover: 12577927
-Tube(from cover to intake): 12594779
Plug: 12568011

1. Start off by removing the intake manifold

2. Remove the knock sensor harness. Use the needle nose pliers to press lightly on the side of the connector and pulling it up.
3. Remove the Knock sensor using the 22mm socket and the 3in. extension.
4. Remove the surrounding cover bolts using the 10mm socket.
Now for the important and delicate part of the job. Prepare your goggles and your grinder with a cut off wheel. The piece you will be removing is the little notch on the right side of the block. This piece will not allow the cover to sit down all the way.
5. Tape the intake ports on the cylinder heads. I used some Terry Towels dipped in oil(to catch small debris) to cover the openings in the middle of the block where the cam is visible. Grab some rags and cover the remaining of the block( I used a lot as you can see on the picture just to be on the safe side).

6. Cut 3/4in. down on the notch or until it is flush. You can also use a hack saw to cut the piece, but I found a grinder to be faster.

7. Now the clean up begins to remeove any debris that might have gotten in the valley or around the engine. I just used rags with alcohol to clean the small debris from the surrounding areas.
8. Install the LS6 Valley Cover.

9. I recommend that you use the LS6 steam tube with the plugs in the back, but if not just bend the ls1 steam tube to clear the bumps on the cover and the port in front of it.

10.Install the plug on the left side valve cover where the pcv hose use to be connected. Use the plug that came with the cover to plug up the vent tube located all the way behind the right hand valve cover.
Tip: I added a small bead of silicone around the plugs on the knock sensor harness to help keep water from going in there.
11. You can now install the Intake manifold and everything else that was removed.
Congratulations you are now done.

I'll try to add more pics tomorrow.

This is the bottom of the LS6 PCV cover. It eliminates the external PCV valve with one that is built right into the cover inside the little black cover you see on the pic. This conversion is suppose to help stop the oil consumptions problems that the LSX engines are notorious for.
