I currently have a 69' Roadster with a highly modified 434 small block. My Three year old son has loved it sense the day he was born and we have spent many hours just going for rides at his request. The problem is in 1 week I'm expecting my second son and although this summer it won't be much of an issue, next summer I won't be able to take them both in the car. I love the car but want to be able to take them both when we go for rides(I'm assuming my second son will insist on riding in the car like my first born) I Originally bought the corvette for the following reasons: could put any motor I wanted in it, no emmisions to worry about, convertable, not everyone has one.
I thinking of a 1967-68 firebird as a replacement, I don't want to give up 600HP so I would most likely transplant the 434 into it. Not to big on the 67-69 Camaro because everyone has a nice Camaro. Does anyone have any other cars I might have missed? Any info on the Firebird? Its not easy to think about selling the Corvette but I want to be able to enjoy my toy with my entire family. Any Info, opinions or feedback would be appriciated.
I also have the same problem i have 2 boys 5 and 7. ithought about selling it and buying a chevelle vert . ialso have a 70 vert i think once i get it back together i will just drive to work once in awhile and some days just take the boys out around the block one at a time or maybe just let the wife drive it and me the boys drive in the minivan (DOUBT IT ) D
If you are not a big fan of the Camaro, why not look at a Chevelle convertible?Of course the are totally differant cars but at least you would have the room that you want.
Dont do it. I had the same scenario. I thought about selling the 69 Big Block vette for a 69 Camaro Pace car convertible. After speaking with my father and others, we realized there is no replacement for a vette. I already have a 78 Z-28(restoring it presently with my boy), 69 Chevelle SS(next in line after the Z-28) and a 5.0 Mustang(ready to cruise) for recreational vehicles. These vehicles could be the family cruisers, but when the wife and I go out we will/have went out in the vette. I have two kids, the oldest is my son at 3-1/2 and my daughter is 2. Presently, the children have only ridden in the Vette down the road to the in-laws and back. The way the vettes are going up in price, i might not be be able to buy another one back.
