Hi again,

reason was the primary's shaft, too much play I think.

For fast help I tried to strengthen the spring and put some grease inside.

And .... it works

For the moment it is ok, I will watch and maybe I will have to take it out next winter to repair it.

Thanks for all the help !

it is still working fine, but :

winter will be the time to do a big service at Mr. Rochester

So, what do you guys recommend to minimize the play ?

Is there a repair set available or is it better to send the carb to a specialist ?

If its better to send it to a specialist for Rochester, please tell me who is best adress.

I agree that the throttle shaft bore in your carb most likely has excessive wear, which, in turn causes the throttle blades to stick in their respective bores in the baseplate.

To fix the problem, bushing kits are available, which allow you to drill out the holes in the baseplate, and press in brass bushings. I don't know if they still offer the kits, or are even in business, for that matter, but at one time there was a business called "The Carburetor Shop", located in Ontario California. They sold a very inclusive kit, that had everything you needed to do the repair on 2-3 carbs, even including a specially modified drill bit to drill out the baseplate.

I bought one of these kits about 20 years ago, and repaired 2 carbs with it.
