I need a square bore intake manifold to mate with my Road Demon and mild cam. Two concerns are fit under a SB hood and whether I can do the install myself. Any model recommendations? Any instructions out there? Any warnings? :lol:
A Weiand "Action Plus" Dual Plane will accept either square bore or spread bore and fits under my '76......Went with an Edelbrock 14" Chrome Drop Base Air Cleaner.......Did have to shorten Carb Stud as it was poking a hole in my hood insulation.......... :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod:
Well, I might get flamed for this, but, why spend money on another carb setup when a used TPI offers so much for the extra effort...better running, better economy, less time at a gas station...you going to spend about 150 on a manifold, and another 250+ on a carb....too bux when for 600 or so these days you can have a TPI setup....be ME, I'd do it right the first time, and have over with it....it's NOT all that much effort really....
Yes you can do it I did last weekend and never had a distributor off before. The MAIN thing to watch for is the distributor, mark the distributor and rotor to make sure timing is set back to normal (don't ask how I know). I think the Edelbrock performer intake will work but check to be sure and some one here will know for sure.
Tools needed;
1) 9/16 wrench (depending on bolt size) for distributor
2) torque wrench (I rented my from auto zone, but O'Riely and other do the same, just put a deposit down and get it back when done)
3) Fel Pro gasket kit #1256 (it's more expensive but it's the one Edelbrock tech said was the beast for this application.
4) 9/16 socket; also will need a extension that bends looks like a universal joint
5) Perateck (spelling) Ultra black (use this instead of cork that comes with gasket kit)
6) Perateck Hitack (spelling)
For the performer (model 2101) you want to torque to 25 lb not 35 like on some intakes.
Tighting sequence in the following order; If you standing in front of the car look at the engine;
Left side bolts would be; 12,11,4,1,5,6
right side would be bolt; 10,9,3,2,7,8
If you decide to this route I have some more info to share
