Default Power steering pump help!!

I need to change my power steering pump in my 79L-82 it is the original one. Is there a more modern model from an other year that I can use and since I switched to a VBP rack and pinion I want a more heavy feel at the wheel. I found with the pump on my car that the steering was over boosted.

Suggestion on pully sized and water pump models

Thanks

OK, are we talking about your water pump or power steering pump? Or both?

I don't think that changing your water pump is going to have any affect on your steering feel.

If you are looking to change the size of your power steering pump pulley, then I'll let someone more experienced chime in on that one.

IMHO, I'd leave it all alone if it's working well.
Good luck.

Nope, steering pump is not what you want.

What you want to do is have an alignment done and have the Caster set more positive. This will firm the wheel up and cause it to re-center more easily.

Alignment Specs - Corvette Steeroids
Recommended alignment settings for 63-82 Corvettes with Steeroids:
Front
Toe (total) - 0-1/8" (increase from 0 for greater stability)
Camber - 0°-.25° negative
Caster - 3°-6° positive (add as much positive caster as possible)

Rear
Toe (total) - 1/8"
Camber - 0°-.5° negative

My steering is also very free moving, also have steeroids, and I need to get this done but have not yet. Wait to see if others will chime in to say if these numnbers are good or need a slight change.
