The windshield wipers on my 68 have never been working since I purchased the car. There wasn't even a wiper motor. I wasn't really concerned about that because I was not planning to drive the car too much in rain anyway. However - I finally decided to get a wiper motor. I hooked it up but - if I turned on the wiper switch - the wipers won't work... I checked the switch and it works fine. However - I don't hear the "click" noise when turning on the wipers. Could it be that the relais that was supposed to control the wiper door (by shutting off / opening up the vacuum flow) is not working. I don't have a vacuum door and therefore don't think that I need the relais. Could I just get rid of the relais (bypass it)?? I don't know what else could be wrong..
make sure you check for the obvious...fuse and power to the switch and at the wiper motor, and a good ground. As for the relays i dont know about that one. I would think if you are using factory wiring it shouldn't matter.

I checked everything already. Power at the switch and good ground connection...
Get some RainX and put that on, no more need for wipers :)
Just keep checking all the wiring for it I guess, it isn't an extrememly complicated system. Make sure your switch has wire connections on it, in case they rotted away or broke off in the car.

The switch and connections are in excellent shape.... I am sure it must have something to do with the relais. It is supposed to click when turning on the wipers. However - no click!!! I will check if energy gets to the relais. This relais is a pain to get to. It's mounted on the tachometer bezel. Every work under the dash is a pain in the a??......
I finally got my wipers to work!!!! :smash: :smash: :smash:
The problem was the Repair Manual that I use doesn't have the wiring diagram for the 68 - 70 Vette. However - the 71 diagram that is in the book is pretty similar. However - one of the differences between the 68 and 71 wiring is that the location of the wiper fuse on the 71 model is where the heater is connected on the 68 and the heater on the 71 is connected to where the wiper is on the 68. Therefore I checked the wrong connection... The correct wires were cut off (two yellow wires from the fuse panel). I connected those wires back to the fusepanel and the wipers were working again.
