HOW TO RESTORE AND MODIFY YOUR CORVETTE 1968-82
By: Richard Newton
Just bought this book today and Thought that I would recommend it to the rest of you guys/gals out there. Definitely very interesting reading and a must for anyone really wanting to do alot of the work themselves. Really covers what works and don't work in alot of situations as far as suspension, steering, alignment. all kinds of stuff.
Heck I had to stop reading it just to let everybody know about it. One of them books you can't put down. A real thriller.
Anybody else have any good books they can't live without. We all know we need the Shop manual and the Assembly Manual or AIM. I was actually searching for the parts interchange manual when I ran across this one. Couldn't find the interchange manual but I'll be ordering it. Anybody recommend it?

I have this book as well, It has it's good parts and bad. I especially like the picture on pg 177 on the LS-4. If that's a 73 LS-4 engine from a Vette then I'm Bill Clinton  Besides the fact that it starts with the quote of the 73 LS-4 only put forth 275bhp, he fails to mention that was net horsepower and it was the highwater mark for the BB vettes between 72 and 74. And then according to the Appendix on color combinations you can't have an original Yellow metallic 73 with a dark saddle interior, seems like a saw one of those in my garage recently  The book does have some good sections however.
I got the Corvette Black Book recently. It's pretty cool, has lots of info about each model year. Nothing too technical though. You can get it cheap on e-bay, I paid $5 for my copy. Some of the info in it may not be that useful to you but it's great just to read through. This book was first published in 1978 and they update it every year. The copy I got only goes up to 1999, but I figure that's why it was so cheap. Info on C5s is easy to get anyway.

One of my favorites from the coffee table in softback is:
SPORTS CAR COLOR HISTORY - CORVETTE 1968 - 1982
By Mike Mueller.
This one has been an inspiration to keep forging ahead on my vette, and actually given me some good info from the photos. -Rod

Re: Corvette Book Recommendations (Armstrong)
I bought "Complete Corvette" by Richard Langworth, just before we bought our Vette (12 years ago). It doesn't go much beyond about 1990, but gives some good info about all the years up to then, with some nice pictures. It certainly gave me a good insight into what to look for/expect. Also, a "plug" for one our "locals". The "Original Corvette" series by Tom Falconer (who lives and works only a few miles from me here) are interesting reading. They give a UK view, and in Tom inimitable style! :) Always some “interesting” opinions, if you know him, you’ll know what I mean! ;) Well worth a look.
