Default Oil Temp Sender

The oil temp sender is between 5 & 7 plugs, right? 82 vette. If I replace it, will oil come out the hole while I am replacing it. Now that I am typing this, realize oil would probably have drained back into pan.

If you are referring to the port in the head between 5&7, then no that is not an oil port. The temp sender should be located right above the oil filter in the block

Never mind. Did a search and find it is hard to find the part and Eckler's has it for $99.99. Joke. Will live without knowing oil temp.
