Hey there, Whats the best way to go with a leaking power steering unit? Is it worth trying to fix or is a new unit in order. Sick of my 76 peeing on my nice garage floor.
I ended up replacing it all in my 80. From what I've experienced and read, if one part is bad then the rest will soon follow. New hoses, ram and control valve all at the same time for peace of mind.
One of the best upgrades I did was install a Borgeson steering box.No more control valve and no more leaking hoses under the car.Bolts right up looks stock and steers great.[IMG][/IMG]

Personally I had no problem, after disconnecting valve and hoses and loosening clamp it unscrewed. Make sure you note the position of the hoses, a picture would be best, before disconnecting them.

It's the best thing you can do to make your car steer like a modern one. Next would be a spreader bar, then crank as much positive caster into the stub axles as you can. Around 5-7 degrees, if you can get that much.
