Code 24, the speed sensor gerenates an electrical signal representative of the vehicles speed, and buffer amplifier amplifies and inverts this signal for the ECM.
Code 22 indicates that the speed signal is not being received by the ECM.
Code 42 is EST Monitoring. I don't have time to type this one.Its long. By reading it int has something to do with the EST tan bypass wire. This wire tells the ECM to electronically advance the timing when the engine is running. The wire runs from the distributor down the drivers side fo the engine near the oil pressure switch.
Check your connections for now. The EST wire and the plug at the ECM.
Follow the wires back to the passenger side of the distributor and see if they are broken. Take the cap and rotor off the distributor and see if the wires are broken inside,
Vehicle speed sensore seldomly go. Is your speedo acting wacky?
Well the speedo is acting kind of strange. When you take off the needle does not respond but slowly catches up (It is smooth and does not bounce)It is way off 7-9mph at 20 to 35 mph. when you reach highway speeds 60-70 80 mph it is pretty much dead on (strange)also the rear end gears have been changed (dont like like for gas mileage,)does 70 mph at about 2200 rpm.My old 82 did 4x the tach ---80 mph at 2000rpm. great on gas.Any ideas,Thank you so much for responding.
