Default Yet another rear end question

It seems now that I will be rebuilding my rear end and was wondering what the difference between a big block rear end and a small block rear end are. Did they even have different rears or are they all the same? Reason I'm asking is that if they ever pass the rolling 20 year exaust emissions rules here in Az, The 454 in my Camaro is going in the Vette. Is there anything that I should do now to prepare for the eventual (I hope) swap? The BB in the Camaro is a hoot but bustin stuff isn't half as expensive as it would be on the Vette.

I think the only difference was the yokes. The BB and Auto's had caps instead of straps for the U joints. If you rebuild the rear you can do things to "beef it up" to handle a lot of torque and HP.

Early yrs. had smaller half shafts. Same rear 63-79, then a new lighter one.
