What's the normal oil temp during highway running about 70 mph?....Mine creeps up from 200 to 250 @ 70 mph with outside temps about 85--90 degrees.....Is 250 oil kind of high or is this normal? Water temp also climbs from 195 to 210....is this normal? If I turn the A/C off, both temps drop back,.. Oil 200 and Water 195. Could this be happening if I'm running too lean....Fuel pressure is between 4 and 5 psi. :seeya Cappy
If the cooling system is stock with your modifyied engine 210 at 70 with A/C on is what can be expected. Oil temps will run high also. Take a good look at the cooling system and try to keep the temp. at 190-195 at 70 MPH and things should fall into place.
I've got a 180 stat in my '81. On a really hot day, say 100+, the water temp will hit 200, oil temp about the same or maybe a little higher, like 210, but with these stock gauges you can't really trust what they say to within less than probably 10 or 15 degrees... On a cooler day, the car runs 180-190, and the oil is the same. If I get up in the mountains and start pulling up some long grades, or put my foot in it and crank up some speed, the water temp won't change much, but the oil temp will get notably higher, exceeding the water by 20 degrees or so.

Gator81,
I have the Be Cool with Twin Spal 11" Fans....I also Checked the Temp Gauges against a Laser Gun Temp Sensor ....All Gauges are reading correctly...+ or - a few degrees...What I'm concerned about is the 250 Oil Temp....Is this high for oil???? If it is I have a oil cooler I haven't installed yet....since space is at a premium....Do you think I should install oil cooler with 250 degrees Oil Temps?
Geez, I don't know. Seems like 250 is getting pretty hot. But most oils should be able to handle that, certainly the synthetics can. I'd be concerned that a cooler would make it take too long to get up to operating temp, letting to much condensation from your humid environment stay in the oil... who knows? Not me!
