I knew a Chris WickershAm back in the 90's when I was vintage racing...west coast guy w/ a very nice C2 roadster that he raced as well as a Devin SS roadster. He had a mechanic friend named 'Dan'. If that's who you're looking for I don't have contact info for him but he was racing with VARA, HSR West, and HMSA so if you go to their websites you may be able to locate him...

I bought a nice 62 Fuelie that was rebuilt by him and another gentleman.
Wish I knew where he was. I can tell ya this..there is a guy, Jeff Reade who owns American Motoring Memories, in Culver City, Ca. He's about as knowledgeable a man on all things Corvette that I've ever met.
I had a 69 mint Vette with a clone L88 engine and Richmond (then known as a Doug Nash tranny). The L88 clone came with 12.5:1 compression pistons. I had the engine disassembled and had 100 thousands of an inch milled off the piston domes. That got me down to about 11.5:1.
I did buy some racing gas, but Aviation gas was much cheaper. I used to go the Torrance Airport with Jerry cans and buy high octane Aviation gas. I got to be such a familiar person, that eventually I could drive my car up, out of sight, and they'd just pump the Av gas right into the tank. Awsome. I bet I could never get away with that today. I've priced racing gasoline today. I forget the exact prices, a few months ago it was $10 a gallon for 110 octane. However, it's amazing the octane ratings you can buy. You can buy 140 octane leaded gasoline for your P-51. Don't know how much it costs, but if you own a P-51, I'm sure the gas price is trivial.

Chris Wickersham is my great uncle. I came across this post while researching his history with the Devin cars. Just saw him last week, he's still in the Los Angeles area. I'd be glad to forward your email address to him.
