Things that need to be fixed...New 73
So here is the first thing that needs to be fixed on my newly acquired 73. A leak from the rear of the car. I believe it's coming from the differential??
Long story short...I already knew about this leak I took pictures of it earlier. So here it is...and now...to fix it...

Deff. from the Diff. Fluid will be thick, sticky and smelly. Use some degreaser to clean it up a little then drive the car and locate the leak. If you do not know the history of maintainance on the car, I would suggest you at least ck. the diff. fluid level to be sure it is not currently low. If fluid is to proper level you can drive it for a while before you do the repair. If the pinion seal is leaking it will throw as much fluid onto the bottom of the car as drops onto the ground. Yours looks like a cover gasket from what I have seen so far. Good choice on cars. I liked the '73 best of the ones you had looked at. This is what mine looked like with a pinion seal leak. Good luck with it. mike...

Melting Slicks
Pull one of the front bolts on the wettest side. If those bolts are too long and get tightened vigorously they can punch through the bottom of the case and leak past the threads. If that's the problem you might get away using some thread sealant for awhile, but a proper repair requires replacing the diff case. Or it might simply be a faulty cover gasket as already suggested.
