Default QA1 rear shocks

Ive purchased some QA1 rear shocks, there is a bush that goes into the top of the shock, which then a bolt goes through to bolt it to the vette chassis, the bush seems a little big on the inside of it, the bolt is quite slack, cant make the bolt any biigger because of the vette shock bracket, any others had this problem?, or does it not really matter?

cheers

I have QA-1s from 2005 and I dont recall anything like that. It was a simple replacement using the same existing bolts, washers, etc from stock shocks. Of course, installation went much faster after I learned to lower the number, collapse the shock, turn the number up and seat it......That first one took me an hour and the remaining 3 took about 30 minutes. That sucked. Was my first time doing shocks.

How many miles you think the QA-1s are good for before requiring a service or replacement?

You may want to check with QA-1 to see if they have a sleeve that goes inside the bushing or perhaps you got the wrong part # for your application.

I just finished installing my QA1 rear shocks 30min ago, and I did notice that the metal sleeve provided for the upper mount was a little bigger diameter than the bolt that goes through it. I torqued the upper nut to 50 ftlbs and the lower nut to 35 ftlbs as per the Chevy service manual, I'm not worried about it.

I am about to install the front QA1 shocks. The torque numbers for those is: 100 inlbs for the upper nut and 150 inlbs for the lower bolts.

What QA1 shocks are you installing? I am installing TS403 rear and TS508 fronts.

BTW: say hello to my family in Dundee for me!

My part number is TD403, but your metal sleeve sounds just like my one, abit bigger, but does it matter?(is your shock single adj?, ie S for single adj and D for double adj)

my shock looks like this

I will be in dundee next week!, small world

thanks WICKEDFRC and Les, will check part numbers

cheers

I am installing single adjustables front and rear, other than that my shock looks identical to yours. I'm not worried about the bolt being slightly smaller in diameter than the metal sleeve, once I torqued it down, it feels solid. I don't think it matters. The Carrera shocks I removed were exactly the same.

Now, if I could only get someone to send me over a box of Tennent's tins, life would be great!!!!

the stock shocks use a 7/16" bolt and the QA1's use a 1/2" bolt....i don't think it matters but i do drill the mount for the 1/2" bolt whenever i use the Qa1 shocks....a much better shock than the bilstein's...jmo....

It's been a while since I did mine, but if I remember right I punched the sleeve out of the old shock and used it in the QA-1. I wasn't comfortable having slop in that bushing. Might have made a bushing too, I honestly can't remember.

When I installed mine, I drilled out the upper mount on the car and used a bolt that fit tight in the the shock bushing.

Your problem was my bitch about QA-1 when I bought them. The rubber did not fit and or the steel sleeve was not in the kit.

I returned three boxes until it had it. QA-1 has poor quality assurance
