Seeing what I have seen here and knowing what I have got it appears that the Summit header collectors do not drop down as far as others and they appear to be shorter. By their design if they where total level I think there might be some clearance issues. They tilt down at the point where the stock exhaust bends. up They install fairly easy and fit around the engine well. With all that said I think the angle of the collector is by design rather than error. Correct way to do it or wrong way to do it I am not sure. After seeing how some of other brands fit I am thinking they fit a bit to close to the floor pans.
Just my thoughts
Our headers have an almost identical shape and fit really well around the engine and under the firewall and car.

If you are going into stock exhaust then just use those headers but get it to a muffler shop to bend you a pipe to fit into what you already have.
Shouldn't be more than $25 a side.Everyone has to do this ,matter of fact I have to do this in the near future with my new headers. Or buy a buddy that knows how to weld for a case of beer, then you can do it in your driveway
Diffidently going to have a shop bend the pipes $25.00 a side would be great I was thinking it might be about twice that. In any case the flex stuff is embarrassing and leaks.
I brought mine to a shop in MA last summer and they wouldn't touch it because I had no cats Going to try a shop in NH in a few weeks. MY flex pipes don't leak so I've been lazy

I have heard that some shops won't do them. My car is a 71 no cats I wonder if I will run into the same problem.
I have had several different sets of headers on my car, out of all of the production headers, the only ones that didn't have a downward slope at the collector were the super comps.
There are production headers out there that fit quite nice on C3's, but are $$$$.
As stated previously you get what you pay for and $100.00 headers are just that, $100.00 headers. They are not going to be perfect.
Summit will take them back if there not up to your standards.I have never had a problem returning anything to them.Installed or not.I have been dealing with them for at least 15 years.

i wish i found a shop that did it for nearly that cheap. the half a dozen exhaust shops i called in town wanted about 2-300 to bend up 2 10 in pipes. i got a "deal" at 90 bucks for the 2.

Do you think it is a case of the "Corvette Tax" in play?

no, i never even told them what the car was on the phone. just that i had an old chevy with headers, and needed a couple of 10 inch pipes bent up to go from the collectors back to the rest of my exhaust.

Then they gave you a quote over the phone? Me thinks it is impossible to tell how much it would be without seeing the the car, and if a muffler guy can't do a simple job like that in 10 minutes per side.....
I own my own business and there are always too many variables to give you an estimate over the phone, I won't do it, I want to see in person what is involved.
