Default 79 tach died

Earlier today I started up my 79 corvette to move it. I really do not drive this car alot but I know when I did drive it last the tach did operate. The tach is just staying around 1000 rpms. Does anyone have any starting pionts to trouble shoot? I do not believe that this car has a tach drive distributor like my 73 so I figured asking for so help first made sense to me. Thanks

"Tach board".
Circuit board that attaches to the back of the tach. Usually the culprit.
I had to replace it in my 25 mile pace car AND my 12K mile white 79.
I think AGE takes it's toll.
Do a search with any of the Corvette vendors.

EASY repair. Access it from the front, no need to remove the dash. Just the clear lense(5 screws)and black trim bezel(6 screws)trimming out the speedo/tach.
3 screws removes the tach.

Also check that the wires to the tach under the hood are in place. The solders on the "tach filter"(mounted on a boss behind the carb, driver side)can be questionable.
