I've got a similar issue with 255/50/17. My setup is the same overall height that yours is. Mine rub at full clock to the right, but not at full clock to the left.
I'm swapping my tires out for 255/45/17 next week. this will keep the same tire width, but change the overall height by 1".
One other option is to go get a front end alignment. They can adjust the camber a bit and possibly get it to work..

good luck
Yea, mine needs an alignment, I'm scheduled for one tommorow. Hopefully that takes care of it. I'd hate to have to buy two more front tires, but then again two front fenders would be alot worse......
Your front looks low have you considered a small spacer under the front springs or a stiffer slightly tall spring? I used a 3/8th hard rubber spacer under my VB&P 550 for years
The optional tire in 79 was a 255/60 x 15 which is the same outside diameter (27 inches) as your tires. However, when these optional tires were installed by GM the wheel well opening was trimmed an additional 1/2" in the front. I know this because my 79 came with 255/60 X 15 and was having difficulty in stalling a front spoiler around the wheel well opening. After doing some research, I found out my 79 wheel opeing had been trimmed at the factory to accomodate the 27" tires.
