Default JRZYDVL update

Finally got started on the beast (1970 LT-1 - sat for 23 years.) So far so good:

The tires are the original bias ply - to be replaced.
the spare is the factory original - to be replaced.
the build sheet confirmed the LT-1 and the M21 tranny
tank had little or no rust, just sediment - dropped, drained and flushed
oil had a little water at the bottom - looked clean
tranny fluid was clean
diff fluid was clean
All fluids replaced, oil to be drained and replaced after first 15 minutes of run time
water pump frozen, new one on the way
new fuel pump on the way
soaked cylinders in tranny fluid (works like Marvel mystery oil) for 24 hrs, engine hand cranked with ease!!
carb to be built after engine started

PS: JRZYDVL (Jersey Devil) after the legend. The First 3 owners where from NJ, as I was originally.

Will have pics and additional updates shortly

Default Re: JRZYDVL update (wireless guy)

Other interesting finds (for those that care):

the engine is original except for the driver side exhaust manifold - looks like a newer model since there are ports for the pollution control devices that are plugged. (will be replaced)

Air cleaner is not original
valve covers are from CalCustom - will be replaced.

engine may have been removed once asit appears the block was milled (engine code missing) - there are other identifying marks that make it the original (as sure as we can be without a history trace)

Compression test will tell us more.
