Default Steering column

Took apart the steering column the other day on my 77 and noticed some bits and pieces of plastic had fallen out. I believe it used to be the horn contact retainer snap ring (with insulator). It is round with five ears or tabs sticking out. I have a new one on order but have no idea where it goes. Can someone help.

Thanks!

Jim Shea's papers on steering are the best there is.

That plastic piece is the insulator for the horn contact spring. Common for them to break and/or fall apart.

I can't seem to find a diagram anywhere showing the location of this part.

Even the note on the sight tells the story.... Horn Contact Lower Plastic Retainer. 1970-1989 All. Five finger plastic contact insulator that breaks everytime you take the column apart
