Default Pre bent heater hoses

Wondering how many use the pre bent heater hoses available from
Corvette suppliers? Vs. just using regular heater hoses and looping
them enough so they don't kink where they connect to the heater
core.

The bend off of the heater core seemed kind of tight for a loop on this 1981. I use 2 barbed 90 deg bends just below the core tubes. I was a bit concerned about the poly fittings and extra clamps but after 3 years no issues.

Also have an 81 and that's a tight turn coming right out of the heater core. I used the pre-bent hoses and they made the job easy.

You can also buy 'springs' that fit inside the hose to prevent kinking.

Same here except I used brass 90's and brass barbed fittings to make the bend.

I used the prebent hoses on mine. The exit on the manifold has to do a sharp turn and the 90 bend was perfect.

I just replaced both my heater hoses on my 81 and they are kinked no matter how much of a loop I left. I ordered the prebent hoses and will change them out again.

Used regular Goodyear branded heater hose when I replaced the heater core in my '78 with A/C almost 5 years ago. Loops into heater core are about the same as were in the original hoses. No kinks. Heater works fine.

Most parts stores have an assortment of fittings and hoses in store allowing hands on selection instead of the Internet risk of mistakes.....

I did the same using bulk hose on my 1974 A/C when I did the core two years ago. I did not know there were preformed hoses. No problems to date but I tend to be cautious and would have used them if I knew. But things are fine so I'll let good things be. I am very good at fixing things that don't need fixing. Bad tendency of mine.

I use straight bulk hose. May not fit as close to the frame as pre-bent but no way they will crimp. After a few heat cycles they will relax a bit. mike...

Dayco & Gates both makes hoses 4' long with a 90 degree end that works great any parts store will have them.
