I was off to order my GM Restoration kit but it seems someone living in the states cannot call GM Canada's classic car number :( I called the 1-800-263-3777 number and got this really nice lady on the phone twice named Melissa, and she tried to connect me from there with no luck. My car is a canadian car and my father bought it in montreal in 1979 (the original owner) so I don't know what to do. Would any of you have advice for me as to what to do?
Thanks guys, after spending an hour and a half calling GM across the world I found the number to GM's classic car division in canada. If you guys need the number it's 905-644-5843 and to toll free in canada you can dial 1-888-467-6853
Wow George is a real nice guy. He called me at 8am and woke me up and I finally got my Kit and buildsheet ordered. Now hopefully in the next two to three weeks I'll have it all!
I called George a few months back (yes, he is a great guy) and I was completely blown away by his memory of me and my '67. My car was well-known here in Oshawa, Ontario (GM Canadian headquarters city) and George remembered a ride I took him on in 1968....in every detail. I couldn't believe it. He even remembered that I sheared all five wheels studs (right rear) and watched the wheel bounce along into the ditch beside me (sometime in 1969 or 1970 I think).
Here he has been in town all these years (in his current job since the early 90s) and it took the Corvette Forum to get us together again.
I guess a ride in a race-ready L-71/L-88 hybrid really is unforgettable!
I'll be seeing George in a few days. I'll report to him that he has a good reputation on the Corvette Forum. :smash:

Tell him I appreciate all his help. Talking to all these canadians the last couple days has me really missing living back up there. I almost forgot how friendly everyone out there is. Maybe I'll make it up there sometime in my vette and see all of you.
Tell George I have always are appreciated the info he sent to me on my 1979. Our Corvette Club used that info to produce a poster for a recent car show.
You might run into a problem getting the restoration kit due to the car being a Canadian car. According to some of my Vette friends up there, GM Canada doesn't offer the restoration package like GM US does. One of them (his car was originally sold in the US) got around it by having a relative in the US order it as if it were his car and then sent it to him. It sounds like they may have a block on cars that were originally destined for Canada though. Have you tried requesting it without mentioning that it's a Canadian car?
If all else fails, I'm certain that one of our fellow forum members with the same year car as yours would be happy to photo copy and mail, or scan and email, their's to you. The specifications portion has lots of interesting info and you'll love it!

I ran into the same problem trying to acquire the info package on my car. Even though I bought my car in California, because I live in Canada, GM in the US told me I would have to acquire the kit through GM Canada. I called GM Canada and they told me I would have to get the kit from GM in the US since I had a US car. So I am caught in a circle so I just said the h**l with it.
The GM Canada C3 records are only for Corvettes exported to Canada. Those records do not exist for USA deliveries as the St. Louis records were destroyed when production went to Bowling Green. So USA owners cannot obtain the same info.
*Edit*-Probably a typically Canadian Government over-regulated issue. But in this case I am thankful.
