Looking for good performing pads. I seem to be getting some fade from the ones I have now. They dont look really worn but when the pedal gets hard, you can push down harder and you get no better braking. New master, new booster, all rebuilt calipers, and been bled bled bled. I will have the rotors turned to remove the glaze when I install the new pads. So what type of pads reduce fade the most? Are there any side effects like noise with the better performing pads? Also, if the pads I have on now were ever wet with brake fluid, does that render them no good anymore? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. I need to have good reliable stopping power to feel most comfortable. I dont believe these brakes have ever been 100% ever since I owned this car.
Though I have not heard of anyone running them on a C3, I've heard the Hawk ferrometallic pads work a lot better than stock pads. My friend has a WS6 Firebird and believes they run much better than stock, and are supposedly nice and quiet.

I have always used Raybestos, they have two lines...the stock ones that you buy over the counter at the parts store, and the high quality ones that you have to order from the parts store. For more information visit http://www.raybestos.com or call 1-800-323-0354. They have been in business for decades and sponsor several race cars including road racers, so they do have brake products that will satisfy you. Personally, I find their high quality stock pads to be good enough for me, heck some checker/schucks/kragens actually stock the better quality pads due to demand. Honestly the cheap pads are for ricers.
I tried performance Friction pads a few years ago. They take a lot of pedal effort when cold, stop great when warm but ..... SCREEEEEEE... EEECH big time no matter what I tried. Stock GM pads solved that. GM pads seem to be very good.
Thanks for all the suggestions. So far, with my research and your suggestions, I think I have narrowed my choice. I see Hawks in the Jegs catalog for $42 per set(two sets required) and PFC carbon metalic at Autozone for $35 a set(two sets required). Raybestos is a good name I hear also. Now what about these "GM" pads you mention, are they actually made by GM? What is they're composistion? Metalic? organic? If I decided on them, would they be obtainable only thru the GM parts counter?

I JUST installed these pads for my trip to the CF cruise-in. I'll soon see how they feel compared to stock pads. ;)
SmokedTires, post back and let us know if they made an improvement for you. This sharing and word of mouth of actual expierence is far better then any marketing attempts when it comes to the real world.
I've got Wagner pads in my '77. Been on 2 years (10 000miles) with 50-60 laps around the raceway and they are still only 1/2 worn! They pull me up pretty good.
