To remove the tach and speedo, pretty easy. Just two bolts holding the steering column, then you can remove the bezel screws. If the new speedo/tach cluster plugs right into the harness, probably less than an hour job.
by far the hardest part is finding/making a compass card, dial scale, that reads what you want...good luck, the printing and graphics couls cost a fortune to set up....might check with a computerised printing/art/graphics shop....
at any rate, the calibration after that can be done by any competant speedo shop...get them to overhaul unit also at same time....bearings go dry...see other posts on that topic....
I beg to differ, removing the tack/speedo console is a little longer than a one hour job. Getting it unscrewed, removing the light switch and getting the lights, cable and wires unhooked is a fair job it self. I think it's more like a all day job for sure.
I think everyone's car is just a tad different. On mine I found it easier to remove my steering wheel cause My steering column gets tore up if I don't. It's just easier for me and since its not my daily driver I like to take my time and not rush cause I always end up screwing somthing up when I do.
OK, I see we have a few different opinions here. First of all where do you recomend to purchase a new speedo from. Second, how will I know if it will plug into my current harness?
