I was driving home and I was stopping at gas station and I hear tires squealing... Uh-Oh I think I hope it is not for me.....All of the Sudden BAM....I got nailed from behind by an White Lexus....It really scratched her car up good and Suprisingly it did not hurt my car that bad at all.....It did take some paint off and scratched up the ol Split tail in a couple of spots....The girl that hit mne...(very cute) and I exchange information and I will be getting the Estimate today.......I am considering having the whole car painted now As long as they are going to reshoot the Rear............Any Thoughts,....It did on one side splint the fiberglass in the rear so It probably will be at least a $1500 dollar job
Is your '74 split tail damaged beyond repair? If it's repairable but is nevertheless going to be thrown out when they replace it in the course of the accident fix-up, I might be interested in paying for shipping to get it up here. Let me know.

I am not sure Mark but I am getting an estimate today so I will let you know for sure!!!
If you can get a new paint job out of the deal for only a small outlay, maybe it was a blessing in disguise . . .  Not to mention if you can get a date out of it as well. :D
Gee, I wonder if the car will still be red?

IThe girl that hit mne...(very cute) and I exchange information and I will be getting the Estimate today.......
I hope you just didn't exchange information and got a police report. My insurance would not pay if I didn't have a police report. Then on top of that, around here, the person to blame always cannot remember hitting you. Then that is when a major :boxing begins!

I have talked with her this morning and I agreed to not file a police report to save her the ticket...I know it is risky but I trust her and i have all her info including her insurance agent if she can't afford to pay herself
That sucks! I would have the whole car re-painted. You could do following:
Get a couple of estimates to fix the damage at more expensive shops. Then wait until the insurance pays for the estimated damage and then take your car to a cheaper (but still good) place and have the whole car painted! The insurance probably won't cover a complete paint job and therefore - your best bet would be to do it this way. Expencive shops will probably quote the same price to fix the damage than cheaper shops to fix the damage and repaint the whole car!
The police report is only a record of the event and in many accident reports where there are no injuries, doesn't establish blame. The cops prefer to let the insurance companies hammer that part out. The police report is a fundamental of protection and without it or credible witnesses, leaves the matter open to question..."she says she wasn't even in the gas station at the time and couldn't have hit you."
Hope it turns out well for you, but in the future, always get a police report if possible. BTW, I know that depending on where you live the police may not even respond or care if the accident is on private property with no injuries.
:( That's bad. Any damage underneath the fibreglass?
Have you got any witnesses? My GF had her car wrecked by a woman in a 4WD running the kids to school & making a phone call. She admitted liabilitiy, apologised, gave insurance details, couldn't have been nicer. That evening she told her husband about it & then changed her mind about the whole thing - she wasn't even in the area & the kids walked to school that day :mad Some people change their stories PDQ when they realise money is involved - & they're paying it.
Some insurance companies are OK about "Betterment" as long as the quote from the garage/repairer is broken down to show how much you & they pay for the job.
Good luck with it,
Paul
