Default Water Pump or something else '80

I have coolant leaking from the front of the motor. When i raised the hood the underside of the hood was cover.

Hoses are fine and no fluid from around the thermostat housing, I am confident this is the water pump but want to ask the experts if there is something else I should be worried about.

Thanks
Bill

If it is indeed the water pump, you should be able to see water escaping from the shaft or the weep hole after the motor warms a bit.

A leak in a water pump usually is at the "weep hole" which is located at the base of the shaft. If you haven't already done so, look for the leak with the engine running and fully warmed with the hood open. It sounds like you may have a pinhole leak in one of the hoses spraying coolant up to the hood. In any event, I would make sure you find the source of the leak prior to swapping out parts.

Another way to find the leak is to use a radiator tester to pressurize the entire cooling system. You may be able to rent one of these tools at Autozone or other parts houses if you don't have access to one.
