I know I have told a similar story before, but this time it wasn't good, it was great. I went into a Pep Boys to pick up a couple quarts of oil, and when I came out of the store, there were five or six ricers pulling into the lot and all parking around the '73. By the time I got over to the 'vette, these guys were out of thier cars and all this chirpping and tooting was going on as they set the alarm systems. I couldn't help myself. I lit off the small block and made at least three of those cars start to cry for mommy. Then just to make sure I didn't miss any, I torque/braked the automatic as I was pulling out to make the chambered exhaust really rumble and growl. I know it's kind of shallow and juvenile, but like I said, I just couldn't stop myself. The tears in my eyes from laughter were starting to blur my vision by the time I got to the street. I'm still grinning about it, and it all happened over four hours ago.
Roger that!! Had a guy at the store tonight remind me of why '73's are so cool, because "in '74 the rocker mouldings were straight cut across the bottoms of the doors, and the body lost all its curve"???. I just said "God bless America" and rolled out.
With chambered exhaust, I would have been amazed if you coulda' got outta there WITHOUT setting off alarms - I dont know about the alarm installers in your area but in San Diego, alarms are so sensitive that I can get them to chirp just by slowly driving by - I have a factory 2-1-2 exhaust with high flow cat and dynomax super turbos - which by all comparisons is rather tame compared to a chambered setup.
I drove in the St. Patrick Day parade last year and there is a guy in our vette club with a 69 and chambered pipes, all through the parade he was revving his engine at the prompting of the crowd - it sounded awesome. He calls it "Parade Sound". People yelled out for me to rev my car, but alas - No "Parade sound" for me - just "Buick sound"
Getting ready to put on true duals and headers - start the install this weekend while I wait for new calipers from VB. "Parade Sound" here I come. :smash:
My vette is a car alarm tripping freak! It's so funny driving in the garage at work. I usually set off about 3 each time I enter. And the security guard always gives me a big wave as I pass by. Man I love this car!!! What I really love is watching unsuspecting people that are close to my car when I start it. It's fun watching people flinch
I can't imagine what it would be like with sidepipes :reddevil
One day I need to bring my camera to work....there are 2 other c3's and I think that while we are all at work, the 3 cars like to have 3some's. I'll always come out and all the cars are parked next to or in close proximity to each other. One of them is a really nice stock looking '72. Still haven't met any of them though.
There's also a few c5's and c4's here but I'm just about sick of c5 guys. I wave at every one of them and have never had one wave back. :mad I saw probably 20 of them last weekend and not a single friggin' return wave. C3's rule!

Not only is it not juvenile but isn't it our job to test those things out.
