It's 7. Gymkhana on a 78 includes the following:
1 1/8" front sway, 550 lb front coils
7/16" rear sway, 300 lb 7-leaf rear spring. Very small rear sway, but apparently the gymkhana option adds quite a fair amount of handling ability... I'd really like to hop this suspension up a bit more. One thing I can tell you is that gymkhana cars do not drive all too friendly.

I don't mind it. :p:
Just noted what most magazine reviewers noted at the time, the gymkhana cars handled considerably better and rode noticably rougher. They also called it the most important option on every Corvette(I couldn't agree more.).

I rode/drove Andy's 82 and it was considerably softer than mine. In fact, it was the first thing I noticed about his car when I got in. I'm not sure how much of it is due to the fact that he has a rear composite leaf spring and softer shocks, but there was a definite world of difference. I'd like to think much moreso than the spring composition and shocks would affect it.

I've only driven my 79 with Gymkhana, ... You mean all vettes don't drive like mine?
No, but they should ! That's why some complain about the handling. Chevy did not want to put the FE-7 on the street until the new 73up body mount bushings.
There is a difference between 77 & 78 up due to adding the high heavy rear glass.
