1977 speedometer problem
I recently inherited a C3 that has been sitting in a garage since 1985 I have been working to restore it back to original, I drove it for the first time (on the highway) when I drove her the soeedometer started to jump a bit then it stopped I could hear something turning under the dash maybe? but I also noticed on the transmission that where the cable hooks in is loose and now leaking fluid from there. What should I look at first and try to fix the issue. Thanks for any help

Check the cable at the transmission. Make sure that the seals are good. You don't want to damage a transmission.
There may be a gear broken on the speedometer behind the dash. Take it out and have a look at it.

I checked the cable at the tranny it is loose and leaking a little so maybe just the seal? or do you suppose the cable it broke as well or the gear? all all of the above? It sat since 1985 did not move or start for that long I have replaced must of the seals but not that one!!
